I'm sure we all have those books that are tough to get through and don't capture you as much as the synopsis did and now you're stuck trying to get to the point. If you're stubborn like I am it's pride keeping you from putting it down and trying a different one.
The novel that has me stuck is The Swank Hotel by Lucy Corn, it's about a woman and how painfully aware she is of the madness around her, from her coworker to her missing sister and silly parents. Picture this: every thought you have ever had, while alone, during a conversation, while playing with your pet, while thinking of a memory, anything at all has been written down and stuffed in-between your regular day by day life. That's how this novel is written.
If you have read it and you love it...congratulations I'm trying to get where you are. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just challenging which I really enjoy. I haven't had to challenge the way I read since high school when we had to read a book which was (mainly) written in a thick southern dialect. I typically read books with some sort of background noise to keep me focused but with the way this novel is written the background noise gets me lost and I can't focus. The disruption of the outside that I lean on to help me is already in the writing and unless I'm in silence at home, I can't make out the words in front of me.
The chapter I'm on is titled: #Experts#, if you would like to read along with me please do and let me know you're thoughts.
